Waneta Tuttle, President and CEO

Waneta Tuttle, Ph.D., M.B.A., founded Southwest Medical Ventures in 1992.  Previously, she held a variety of management positions during her 23 years at the Lovelace Medical Foundation in Albuquerque, serving for 15 years as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Lovelace Medical Foundation and as the founding president of Lovelace Scientific Resources.  She has been a Director of a publicly traded pharmaceutical company (MGI Pharma, 2004 – 2008) through its sale to Eisai Pharmaceuticals.  For over a decade she served on the Board Health Care Service Corporation (2006 – 2017; Emeritus 2017 to present).  HCSC is the 4th largest health care insurer by membership in the U.S. operating Blue Cross and Blue Shield of  Illinois, New Mexico, Montana, Oklahoma and Texas. 

She is a member of the Advisory Board of for Tullis Health Investors and is a member of the Corporation Emeritus for the  Charles Stark Draper Laboratories (1994 – 2019) in Cambridge, MA.  She was named a Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
